Im purchasing a new system and im going to go with (2) MTX 12 inch 8500's and im going to slap them in a ported box. I want to stay in the 2 ohm range for the final load on an amplifier but I have a few amps in mind that run down to 1 ohm. Amps I have in mind are:

Hifonics Brutus BX1000D

(2) Hifonics Brutus BX500D

Viper Audio 1200.1

(2) MTX 421D's (But has no subsonic filter)

Anyone have any opinions or maybe some other amplifier options? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

T8512-44 Doesnt matter... The T8512-44 is the dual voice coil model and the T8512-04 is the single voice coil model

Yes it does matter becasue since you have the dual 4 ohm version each sub can be wired to 2 ohm or 8 ohm. This may be a problem.

Because normally I would recommend a pair of 4 ohm subs and wire them parallel to achieve a 2 ohm mono load on the amplifier. A good amp in that case would be the MTX 1000d, 81000d, 1501d, 500d, 6500d, or500xd

Since you will more than likely series each of your subs voice coils, then parallel them from there to achieve a 4 ohm load mono, I would say go for the MTX 942 amp.

I do not have the subs yet, so thats why it doesnt really matter. Im going to pick out my amp(s) and then Ill decide what final ohm load I will run. Hence I said I was going to go with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/angel.gif.fa7795fff6653f4381ba158c55a48b74.gif

Can I run two Hifonics with a sync cable so the gains are set the same and so I have one bass knob to control both?

In that case I would get 4 ohm subs (ran parallel to get 2 ohms), and a mono MTX amp. The 1000d, 81000d, and 1501d would push 1000+ watts RMS to the pair at 12.5 volts at 2 ohms.

Or you could opt for the 500d, 6500d, or 801d.

If I were in your shoes I would give Mitek Factory Outlet a call at 1-800-372-3029 in the morning and see how much they would charge you for a 1000d. That is the 2001 model of the curretn 1501d. Its actually a better amp, less restricted I have read.

I would opt for the MTX amps but they dont have a subsonic filter...

Yeah Im thinking of going with two Hifonics Brutus Bx1000d's and running them at 2 ohm instead of 1 ohm... I dont want my amps to get too hot and I want them to last a while. Does it have a hook up for a Sync cable?

So should I go with 2 Hifonic Brutus BX500D's @ 1 ohm for 1000 watts or 2 BX1000D's @ 2 ohm? Do they last long @ 1 ohm and how is the heat at 1 ohm?

I Have Two 12" Mtx 8500 Dual 4 Ohm Coils Im Running With A Mtx 81000d Amp Its A Older Series But Im Running My Subs At 1 Ohm And Ive Had Them For About 4 Months Now And I Get All Kinds Of Compiments On My System Um I Like That Amp If Your Looking At New I Would Look At The Same Spec But New Version Of Mtx I Think Its Thunder.81001 At 1ohm Its Puting Out 1500 And I Know Its Over Powering But Like I Said I Have Just A Little Bass Setting But When I Want To I Can Really Crank It Up If You Know What I Mean I Accutally Blew The Window Seal On My Car And I Have A 97 Honda Civic Just Be Sure To Run A 5 Farad Cap At Min. With That Much Power.

SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND WHEN I FINISH THE BOX THAT MTX MADE FOR THESE SUBS ILL SEND YOU A PIC IM BUILDING THE SLEDGE HAMMER BOX MY SELF ITS GOING TO BE AWSOME. MY EMAIL IS heisnerb@hotmail.com

Im sorry but....

1. This thread is 8 months old

2. Learn to use puncuation such as periods to end a sentance. I can't read that.

3. Its annoying to capitalize every single word.

4. I already have an amp.

i had the Hifonics Brutus BX1500d on 4 of the thunder 8000's and it pushed them with balls it hit hard and sounded good i think the BX1000d will be good with those sub's

You can wire those subs up @8 ohms if they are both SVC4 ohm subs, and that amp will run fine after being tuned properly...

Pretty much. It's just a nice kit. A solo rite Scarlett 2i2, XLR mic and a loop back cable are my next purchases so I can get accurate phase...

One or two, they are still subwoofer outs and are mono summed signals from both left and right. Even the 2 RCA subwoofer pre-outs on the 2nd one...
