what am i suppose to look for in a amp?

I am completely new to the After Market sound system. I did a couple of googles to look for my answers but i either didn't find anything or something that just confused me more.

Right now i recently bought, but not installed 2 pairs of Infinity Kappa 682.9cf.

the amp i am looking at is the Power Acoustik D4-1400. there no Full pass on this and the hi pass is set to 200hz white low is 35-160hz. is this a good thing? can someone explain it to me a bit what it means?

my speakers at rate @ 2ohmz, and 2 ohmz on this amp is 350w x4, i don't need all of this watt so can i use bass blockers to block that bass watt i don't need and simmer it down to something like 100 watts of rms powers?

Study Study Study....Then read....and read....and..read..andread.and read.....Then do research...then do more research...maybe do more research..

Rinse and repeat. Then you will be able to make your first small car audio purchase.

thanks for that advice, im doing lots of reaserch on this one amp. Power Acoustik D4-1400, but i don't know if that will be a good choice. everytime i go edit my post and do it with something useful, it say save is denied and delete everything i just wrote...

you dont need to look so much at the filters as you do the RMS wattage. the biggest thing noobs need to know is that rms is the actual wattage it does. peak is what itll do when struck by lighting right before it lets out the smoke. cheap brands advertise peake wattage and most even overrate the rms. in most cases rms is half of the peak but ive seen many low low end amps saying something like 1400 watts!!!!! and in fine print it says peak wattage then the rms is like 250 or something. just be careful. completely ignore anything that isnt rms unless you are looking at burping it ortrying to push it as hard as it goes for daily. and look at total fuse ratings. if it says 1500 watts and has 2 20 amp fuses it does not do 1500 watts or at least not at the voltage your car is maintaining.

Check the classifieds here, many sellers on this site have some decent amps for good prices. Feel free to ask questions about any you find, to them through PMs and in threads like this.

Maybe it was just the name but i had to go out of my budget.... i ended up winning a MTX JH404. its new, only open to test if it was a DOA item. It comes with free shipping and 3 years warranty. and all i had to do was go 8 dollars out of my budget. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i hope this was a good choice i made....

let me know
