Whaddaya Mean, "Monoblock"?

Hello,

As I'm used to using it, a monoblock amp uses one amplifier circuit for both channels and those channels are separated by a degree of decibels through the circuitry.

One fuse generally means monoblock.

However, it appears that the common usage is for an amplifier that provides only one channel output, mono, for the sub(s).

What's the definition as used today?

Thank you,

Josh

You run two of them. Got people running two taramps 8ks just for mids
Ya...totally amazing. They running more watts to their mids than I am to my subs. But then again....I'm not running 10k+ watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

wow but at least on that cadence it wouldn't cost that much for 2., most peeps with largeish systems spend more on 4 channel than those.. so is it just for power cause they not gonna be any cleaner than a/b or because more efficient/ less current draw?

that cadence is about 250 to 300 watts according to fuse rating. I dont see it making 600 clean and undistorted full range. the amount you pay for two of them you could have gotten a much better built quality 2 channel or two soundstream 900.4s if bridged would give you two 450 x 2s. Sorry but that cadence amp looks like pure junk.

yeah higher end class d full range would cost lots more.. what i'm asking is y peeps use them instead of a 2 or 4 channel is it just for more power or to save on current draw or both..

Alot of people dont even run stereo on pa mids, they run bridged. Thats part of the reason that 8ohm pa mids are so common. If you are going to bridge anyways, a full range mono might work for your application

that was what i was driving at with the cadence amp mention. Was pretty sure that it wasnt all that great for its price, but yeah //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
