Were these any good at one time? *pics*

Hey guys, I've had these two Solo-Barics laying around for a few years now and they're about to go in the garbage, but I wanted to know what year(s) these were produced in, specs you might know of, and how good they were.

I bought them off of a friend about 4 years ago and they were ran off of a cheap *** little Boss amp so I've never realized their potential. One of the subs is blown and the other sub had the negative tinsel lead come out of the cone.

All I know about them is the model number, s12c, and that they are 4 ohms.

Really nice subs. I just bought 2 of the 15's and will be powering with an old school ppi pc21400. Too bad they're blown.

works well in very small sealed enclosures and hence were very inefficient. The original Solo's started the trend of small sealed enclosure subs back in the days. These were some of the latter versions before Kicker went with the the square subs of today.

Yeah I think that when I had bought them they'd been through quite a bit, seeing how long they'd been around... when did they start the square sub trend?

EDIT - Any chance of the missing tinsel lead to be fixed? I realize Kicker does not do recones so the other sub would probably only be good for parts/

Very nice sounding drivers.

They were some of the best sounding subs that Kicker ever sold. They were not loud and were mechanically incapable of handling their rated power in the recommended sealed enclosure. The relatively loose suspension was just not up to the task of keeping the fairly heavy coil/cone assembly from driving the former into the backplate at higher power.

Thanks bro. I was gonna try and pursue it in small claims court but I figured it was more trouble that it would've been worth... it was partly my fault for not getting anything on paper from him (younger me = dumb)
