I interviewed at a place that does independent money manager analysis... so they come into some company or non-profit and review the performance of the the money manager and possibly offer advice. They are fiercely independent and will never receive even the smallest of gifts...

It would be an awesome job... it'd be like a massive case study on every style of institutional investing possible... I should get the job, I know one of the analysts and his wife that does the public funds analysis. Plus they really stress finding someone who fits in as much as the skills, so already being friends helps... we'll see... the company is RV Kuhns...

I plan to go into independent personal advising at some point... high net worth types, where you charge 1% of assets every year...

2 and 20 for the real players //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I had a similar interview with a company that audits and anaylzes hedge funds. They weren't willing to pay me the $$ the government would.

In retrospect, I think I could have made some great connections in the investing world. But I got to live with my decisions I already made. My job now is mostly accounting based and it sucks. No matter how good you do, you won't make a billion in a year, and that saddens me more than anything.
