Exactly. I can understand choosing to not believe, But what if you are wrong. How much would that suck?
And what if "God" is a cow? Then even though you believed "just in case," you still lose. Sill pointless.
I see myself as "spiritual" much moreso than "religious." I honestly believe that is the better path. The teachings in the Bible (and many other religious manuals) are just good common sense (admittedly, I do not read the Bible any more than the Koran, or other religious texts).
I believe that there is something somewhere, and that we are not alone (aliens aside). Science can take us back to just tiny time fractions from the start of the physical world, but can not explain the thing that spawned everything in being to become what it is. I do believe in evolution, as we can see physical evidence of it in our lifetimes - we don't need to be alive for millions of years to see the evolution of species. So I don't buy into everything that the Bible holds out to be true. And we always forget that the Bible was written in a time when the meanings were completely different. When the Bible reads "man" it means "MAN" not "men and women" the way most read it today. Women were NOT equals 100 years ago, let alone 2,000 years ago!
Is there a God? Who knows? But some people must have some thing to cling onto to make it through life. Bonding with another over something is special and brings a feeling of content and euphoria. And if that works for them, is that wrong?
Only when they are hypocritical about it. [ie - love everyone and judge no one, but kill the infidels. HUH???]
Be good to your brother and he too will [hopefully] be good to you. That's good enough for me. I don't want to have to pay a tax for that either.
