I want to get a second job here, at a local shop, but i doubt folks be hiring.

I do know though, that no one at any of these shops know shit, with the exception of this one guy. I think he's like the owner at his shop now, and he installed my first system almost 20 years ago when he was a nobody basic installer. I love installing shitt, should I approach that guy and tell him that?

dont become the average shop idiot installer bro! but nice find have have fun with it! dont mess around always do something and do what your told... Make sure when duties are explained to you you understand what there saying...dont assume and go do it wrong. If you dont understand ask them to explain again...

If I were to choose between the two for a job, I would choose AMS. RAXX rubs me the wrong way for some reason. Last I checked AMS was carrying much better equipment but that's not what's important at the moment. If you want to be an installer just get your foot in the door wherever you can and learn as much as they'll teach you. Just be sure to leave on good terms if you want to go someplace else that way the next shop won't think you're a flake.

I started at a local internship and learned. im currently setting up a paid internship with the same shop, again it was a year ago that my first internship happened and i've been getting side jobs and just helping out all the time since. i got the paid intership through a state/federal grant a a local career center, i ent and asked the shop owner and he was like Hell yeah.
