its not the surround. There is still alumnimum connected to the surround from the dust cap

ok, its kinda hard to tell that in the pics. so the failure was metal fatigue vs. delamination of the surround? Just want to get that clear so I can understand whats going on.

Normally I wouldnt care, but I do have alot of TC Sounds equipment around, and have done things only god could rival to some of it....and ive just not seen that aspect of failure.

yea they are a great company and make good products but this is the second time the exact same thing has happened. Im really tired of it.

oh im sure of that, its just that this sort of thing happening twice makes me believe there is some other physics at work, otherwise id of seen more of this before.

I know they had a lot of problems with the cone separating a little while back, but I heard that they resolved the issue. I guess not. I guess the only thing to do is to get it fixed (they ought to do it for free), and sell it if you don't want to give it another shot. Hopefully, it won't happen again to you or anyone you sell the woofer to.

well im gonna see if i cant get a refund directly though tc because there is noway that i will sell the sub for what i paid for it and i dont wanna lose money for something that is the companys fault.

you know, I cracked three quadcoil storm x2 cones. and had ONE of the surrounds on my 2+ 8" tear off half way around the sub... both 2+ 8"s seem to not be screwed onto the motor very tight, but they were protos from when stephen was still there so...

I think I'll see if scott can still recone my 15"s lol. just emailed tc but I don't think I'll go that route unless they just sell me a cheap top lol...

If they offer I'd snag the LMS-5400 or even the 4000 in a heart beat. I got an Eclipse with the same VC as the LMS-4000 and its accuracy is amazing.
