I also feel we should be making the distinction between wealth and income in this conversation.

What about military leaders?

Wealth, distinguished from income, doesn't necessitate power and power doesn't necessitate wealth.

Clinton was not in the poor house either. He was a distinguished lawyer. I guess I should look up what the Governor of Arkanas' salary was in 1994.

As for the military, you can look at their payscale, and look at the perks that Lockheed and Rolls Royce distribute.

The two frequently overlap, yet one does not necessitate the other.

When i think of power, i think of ones ability to circumvent the restrictive institutions inherent in society. Wealth, while allowing for a much more fluid relationship with societal institutions and restrictions, only goes so far.
