Well, I Failed...

Thanks for your input guys! Geez, some people are grumpy... I know I was just upset about it I'm fine now I'm fixing to go practice... BTW why can't I have a Charger? I'm not a spoiled brat, I'm modest about what I have, I work my *** off in school, and my parents work hard for their money... you get what you earn...

A 16 yr old with a new Charger that he didn't pay for is spoiled no matter how you look at it. I worked hard in school (graduated with over a 4.0, tyvm) and my parents make good money. My first car was still a 16 yr old (at the time) AMC product that I was glad to have. Only reason I had that was it was willed to me by my grandfather when he passed. No, it was not a Gremlin, a Pacer, or anything like that. Most people here likely have never heard of or has ever seen the type of car I drove when I 1st got my license.

Not bagging on you, fella, if your folks wanna buy you a fly ride at 16 more power to you ~ but I fail to see what you might have done to "earn it." (unless you coughed up around 10K or so of the purchase price!)

How much did mommy and daddy pay for it?

And if your mom and dad gave you the keys to a free car, your saying you would look at your ma and pa and be like "No i cant take this nice car. Its agaisnt the rules.."

Give me a break! If my mom or dad came to my appartment and gave me the keys to a brand new car I think I would shed a tear. that the keys and fly down the highway.

I had a '74 Matador sedan. Had a 401cid big-block, Carter ThermoQuad 4 bbl carb, and a 727 TorqueFlite auto ****** backed by AMC's very own AccuTrac limited-slip posi rearend (can ya tell that AMC scavenged Chrysler's parts bins every now and again?!?)

It was a big, ugly, gas-guzzling boat and @ 15 yrs old I loved it!

IMO parents shouldn't do such a thing in the first place. What are you teaching your child by doing that? That everything in life is free? There's no moral lesson in handing over the keys to a brand new car to a 16yr old.

I don't care if I have millions of dollars....both of my children will be purchasing their first car with the money they've earned and saved by working for the money without my assistance in any way, shape or form.

My very first car was an '84 Omega that I paid $100 for (and only cause it had new tires). Had a blown head gasket that I paid for and fixed. To this day I wish I still had that car. Why? Because it was my first major purchase. I paid for the entire thing with my hard earned money. No assistance. I did it all on my own. That gives you a sense of pride. Not driving around in the brand new car mommy and daddy bought for you.
