Welding cable: Excelene vs/ Flexaprene

Anyone ever done a comparison, or know what the main differences are, if any?

I think that Flexaprene is from Direct Wire, and Excelene is from CCI/Royal, but that is about all I "know" at this point.

Sent this question to a large dealer, and got the following response:

"Hello.

How does the "Excelene" compare to the Flexaprene and Ultra Flex from Direct Wire?

Where can I find additional specifics on this cable?"

"its all the same. all have rubber/neoprene jacket"

I don't believe that is a true statement, but can't prove that it isn't "all the same"

Based on what I have read, I would say that you're right about the Flexaprene being a bit more flexible.

I have sent each company an email requesting specifications on their 1/0 and 2/0 product, but no response yet....

Both are EPDM rubber. Standard welding cable uses 30 gage strands and there shouldn't be much difference in flexibility between brands other than possibly the thickness of the insulation itself. But from their descriptions, the insulation is the same stuff.

I have used the Flexoprene in several installs when I didn't have access to an audio shop but had a welding shop 1 block away. It was good quality cable and flexible enough for my install needs. Also held up to the environment very well.

Either or....the copper inside is the same quality, size and such. The jacket can be had in different types. There is a blue cold weather jacket which is way more flexible, but in reality, who needs uber noodle 1/0?

Got a fast and courteous response from Flexaprene with their specs, but not a word from Excelene.

I located one place online that shows Excelene's basic specs, so I will try to put together a comparison of the two, later, but they seem very similar on first glance at the info ..... the above posters are likely correct that the wire is very similar, with flexibility going to the Flexaprene.
