To make a long story short I returned my Pioneer 9800BT to Best Buy in Windsor today after finding the Premier 980BT at a local car audio shop for less than what I paid for the 9800 at B.B.

Bottom line -$50.00 in my pocket and 2 year warranty instead of one.

Glad B.B. has 30 day exchange policy!!

That's a great deal on the 980. BB sells the 9800 for 649.99Can so they'll probably sell the 980 for 699.99Can.

What reason did you give BB for returning it? Did they give you any hassle?

i showed em the faceplate for the premier cause i already had it installed because i wasn't re-doing the wiring harness, i just threw new harness in 9800 box and told em i got the premier for 50 bucks less and a year more warranty!!!

they have 30 days return on car audio decks.

they will not carry both versions i was told at b.b.

i work at best buy in illinois and ive been trying to get ahold of that deck. I know what ill be doing ALL day today at work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif lol. Its not even listed on best buy.com. The only one in the system is the 7800.

Best Buy never has and probably never will carry the Premier line.

According to the Pioneer website, they are selling the 980 Premier at many of the Canadian Tire locations across the GTA, which I find funny. Didn't know CT would carry higher end Pioneer HU's. I think they price match though.

I checked and That's an unbeatable price you got for the 980. I can't find any store in the GTA that comes close to that price and it even beats out US internet prices. There seems to be only three differences with the 9800. Auto-EQ, Auto time alignment (both of which require use of the included microphone), and the extra year warranty.

Does the Auto EQ, auto time alignment make any noticeable difference in SQ compared to the 9800?

yes your correct on the diffs between the two.although i didnt use the auto eq. cause it looks like a pain running the wire to the hu from the recommended mounting of the drivers headrest.

gotta get my *** in the backseat to take some nice pics and should i post the bill of sale to show the 599 canadian price??-lol

I didn't know you had to mount the wire to the driver's headrest. What a pain. I'm not questioning the price....I'm just wondering if I should drive all the way to Windsor to get one myself. If I don't use the auto-eq myself, then it probably isn't worth it to spend $50+ worth of gas just to add 1 more year of warranty. Plus all the effort in swapping HU's.

Nothing personal but those are some of the worst pictures I've ever seen. The lighting is awful and ONLY in the last one can you even make out what deck it is.

shad it's just a temp. mounting location but i thought it a pain as it plugs into the back of the hu myself.

no need to change harness,just unplug from hu.so come down on saturday, scoop one up and meet enzo while your down here.

oh ya....created a shortcut on my cell, now i can activate bluetooth with the push of two keys....a little easier.
