Welcome Ms Alma Gates to caraudio.com

Um....where's she at boys? I see you talking about her, but I don't see her!

Do I get any bonus points if I get Richard Simmons to register?

Alma, if you're reading this, I don't want you to help me with my SPL score......but if you could post me your recipe for Key Lime Pie, I'd appreciate it. I've heard very good things about this pie.....and we all know that pie is more important than a bunch of speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PS I won a charity auction a few years ago for an autographed PPI piston driver that you used......it's blown now if you want it back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

YOU MEAN I OWN SOMETHING THE GREAT LLOYD LOWERY AND ALMA GATES HAVE BOTH TOUCHED!?!?

I take that back, Alma, you can't have it!

I kinda wish I hadn't blown it, cause now if i get it reconed, I lose Alma's autograph!

And exactly what good is an old PPI piston without an autograph?!?!

Now if only i can get Nate Munson and Richard Clark to touch it too.....

1. You took a piece of history, and blew it up? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

2. They weren't in the best shape to begin with..

3. There is no dustcap to save, its a flat piston cone..

4. PPI hasn't made that woofer for several years now

5. No, they aren't stock PPI Pro's, they were modified, for her use

6. There is nothing you can do about it... lol

He could remove the whole cone could he not?? and true it wasn't the best idea to use it but hey i donno all the details as to why in the blue hell he would use a autographed PPI Flat.

Okay, I knew I'd end up explaining myself sooner or later for this one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

When I won the sub I had no intention of actually using it, because like Lloyd said, it was a piece of history and it was lookin kinda ratty when I came into posession of it. It sat on the top of my computer desk for a few months until one day, I blew the last of my three Pioneer TSW-303c subs. I saw it sitting there collecting dust and thought to myself "A ratty old sub with a famous old lady's autograph on it is better than no sub at all!"

So I slapped together a 1 cuft sealed box for it and wired it up to my trusty old Audio Art 50HC. I put it in my trunk and gave it a few test tones to make sure it still worked (which it did....but not like quite as loud as I thought it would be) and went bumping along my way. I never really abused it, nor did I try anything weird with it....just listening to the stuff I normally listen to at the volume I normally listen to it at. It worked for about three days, and then just stopped working. It didn't smell, didn't make a scratching noise, nothing.....just stopped working altogether. I didn't ask questions, I simply took it out of the box and put it back up on the shelf where it remains to this day. I don't know what's wrong with it, and honestly don't care to find out. It makes a better conversation piece than a subwoofer anyway.

Lloyd: Do you know what mods were done to it? I can't see anything out of place right off, but then again, this is the only ppi pro piston I've ever seen.....

They used a different motor, which is 3 times larger than the stock Flats, the former is different, the coil is different, the basket, and suspension is different as well.... about the only thing the same on both models... is the cone.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hehe.... I can't believe somebody actually tried to play one.. lol Ma sure beat the hell out of them when she had them.. so there wasn't much left anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
