weed in today's society

how much money in a week do you spend on alcohol......or maybe you are just the wrong person to ask that to....but think about this.....lets say under the age of 30....lots of people go out to the bars on the weekend...here in chicago...a bar weekend is probably going to run you about 100 bucks....now you have the rest of the week most people still want to drink in the night time...so we'll say another 40 bucks for.....2 cases through the rest of the week...thats 140 bucks a week....maybe tyou went to some cheap bars...we'll say 100 bucks.....thats about 50 more than I spend on weed....get my point...for people who like to party...alcohol is DEFINITELY more expensive...unless you smoke a ton...but id say for 1 person....not the whole rotation....an 8th a week is probably standard. (50 bucks)
i probably am the wrong person, i've spent maybe 30 bux on alcohol in the last year. i agree alcohol can be a waist of money as well. but i need neither of them to enjoy my life.

i mean......i dont really "NEED IT" it dont find it one bit addicting. I could stop on a dime if I wanted to, but if im going to be sitting around all day and night doing nothing....I get high...its just a more enjoyable way to do nothing, then your not as bored or at least you dont mind it....But I hear what your saying. I respect your opinion

That's a subjective opinion based on a personal value system, however. The value system that works best for MikeOfTulsa in MikeOfTulsa's world does not necessarily apply to everyone and everywhere else.
i agree with that, but i dont see why somoene would need to have a drug to make life more enjoyable. thats jus my point of view

you know how many times i've heard that from people that smoke cigarettes and from my mom when she was an alcoholic?

Not everyone that uses it does so as the result of being motivated by a "need" per se, though.
Some people simply enjoy it, period. Like Cale Yarborough (sp?) liked to drive race cars. Like Picasso liked to paint. Like Stephen King likes to write. None of them needed to do what they did but they liked it and got off on it so they did it.

The same holds true for far more recreational drug enthusiasts than you would think.

Edit: Okay - I was unaware of that regarding your mother. Children of addicts usually do have extremely strong, ironclad opinions to the negative about substance abuse of any kind. I see a bit more where your point of view stems from now...

yea...but the difference is I can, and have proved it to many people who used to think that I was "addicted" I said to them "ya know what..if your really worried, and if you really think i am...how about as of right now I will stop for 2 weeks, JUST to prove you that I am 100% in control of what im doing" and I do it, no problem. Same with taking a drug test for a job....tonnnns of stoners will quit for a month for a job with no problem.

Cigarettes and alcohol are completely different as far as being addicting...BOTH have PHYSICAL withdrawal symptoms. And another biiiig difference is...someone who smoke cigarettes every day...craves that next moment to have another one. They have to do it before they eat and after they eat...right when they wake up...after they turn off the TV to go to bed, or near that time...they literally control you, and if you dont have that oppertunity for the next one, you start to get ancy, you cant focus, you get the jitters......none of this applies with marijuana....at least for me...a heavy user.

if i took your son away from you, youd know what you NEED to make life more enjoyable. if you took my weed from me i knew what id WANT to make life more enjoyable. if you took a farad capacitator outta my car i wouldn't give a shit cuz i dont use it.. in the same way you dont give a shit about our weed cuz you dont use it. now everybody who has never touched the stuff, STOP JUDGINE PEOPLE WHO DO IT. id rather hear it from someone whos touched the stuff.. cuz then at least you'd know theyre not COMPLETELY biased about the subject [/rant]

i have yet to judge anyone, i have simply stated my opinion on the subject, now i have went with out being able to see my son for a long period of time before, those were hard times for me. i have not once in this thread stated that anyone is less of a person for doing it or any such thing, i personally dont see the need for it. especially seeing as it is illegal. i would prefer not to risk going to jail or having a criminal record for a temporary "good" feeling.

i mean i have a drink on occasion, but i seldom if ever let myself completly go and let a drug/alcohol have control of my actions or affect my actions. i prefer to be in control of them myself.

Dont you have a thread *****ing about being like 22 years old and living with your dad still? You dont see any connection between dropping cash on dope, and still living with your parents?

Think about it man.......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
it's not b!tching when im asking for advice.. in that thread i asked for some tips on getting started on starting my own business.... don't put words in my mouth, that's what females do.. and wtf does me smoking weed have to do with my dad being an *******? so what if i live with my parents at 22? that doesnt bother me AT ALL... the only reason id like to move out is to get away from my *****ing dad.. oh, and for future reference.. people that say "YOU'RE XX YEARS OLD AND STILL LIVE WITH YOUR PARENTS??" are the same people that are insecure about living at home because theyre afraid some chick is going to think less of them but if you really think that way, thats lame to begin with and going out of your way to do something for a female is a lame-*** pathetic move unless she's your wife. and no i dont see any connection between spending money on weed and living at home.. except im always high at home..

i know, you werent one of the people that was meant for but i used your question as an example and by answering it i pointed out what i wanted to get across.

I smoke. I enjoy it.

My mother is 50 years old. She has been smoking green since she was in her first year in college. She has a degree in teaching (k-6) Shes one of the best teachers out there. She really cares about kids.

She smokes every day and leads a perfectly normal happy life. Her house is very clean, she is also one of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life.

My father also smoked for about 25 years. He stopped after he got his last job. If he had it his way he would still smoke.

I figure if my moms been smoking for 30+ years then it cant be that bad.

i don't need skateboarding to enjoy my life. i don't need video games to enjoy my life. they all just make it MORE enjoyable.

some people like weed. doesn't make them any better or worse of a person IMO
