Yeah, no stretching there at all. If you can read on an adult level you will notice that the passage in no way says marijuana will give you AIDS. It simply states that it affects judgment which is a proven fact. Marijuana will no more give you AIDS than it will make you eat potato chips.

1. I used to be a marijuana smoker so I know what I'm talking about when I say "weed sucks."
2. Just because alcohol may be worse, depending on your sources, doesn't make marijuana any healthier.

3. I don't have a problem with marijuana as a plant, nor do I have a problem with a small minority of marijuana users. If you want to smoke it, be my guest, afterall their your lungs.

4. I don't support the war on drugs. If I had it my way I would tax the shit out of marijuana and capitalize on the millions of people who use it.

This however is nieve. You and I both know that I understood what they were saying, but the point is why would you include AIDS instead of potato chips, or ANYHTING else?!

If you take a look around you, you will notice that we live in what I like to call a consumer-saavy culture. We all think that we are above the influence of something as simple as say, word association. But we aren't, and in fact that arrogance that is alive in most of us as a result of being such 'cool consumers' is what allows us to be so susceptable in the first place.

ESPECIALLY in kids, who are the main audience that site is geared towards.

They chose to have the word AIDS and HIV in there, as well as VIRUS, etc. It's all extremely intentional and designed as a subtle scare tactic disguised as "straight info" with no bias.

As far as affecting judgement......I dunno about that one. Maybe in some people, that's as much merit as I'll give that statement. It makes some people exactly the same, you wouldn't know they are high. Other people get sleepy and lazy.

And some people definitely do get impulsive and energetic, but their JUDGEMENT isn't clouded, their motivation is simply fueled by a mind racing with ideas. I consider myself this kind of smoker. I feel productive and in good spirits and generally want to talk to people and check the oil on the general wellbeing of my fellow man.

All in all its a very positive and healthy feeling.

Hell, I've even gone to work high once, just to see how it would affect me (I work in IT), and I got more compliments on my attitude and ability to find solutions that day than usual.

Like I said, all in all I respect your opinion but I'd stay away from broad generalizations.

If you really knew me you would know that I was joking just like you were...just from a different angle. I don't make broad generalzations based on poor interpretations of linear reasoning.

I used to smoke back in the day, probably 1-2 times per day. Didn't affect anything in my life one bit... Near 4.0 GPA in middle school/high school, good social life, no family problems, etc... I stopped at 16 when I got my driver's license just because I found better ways to spend my time/money.

Quick personal story:

My old best friend (who is now a daily meth user, but that's a different story) and I went in on a quarter. We got it from his brother's friend, smoked it, and I got the weirdest high in my life. It was like an out-of-body experience, like I was actually looking at myself from above. I remember this night very clearly, like it happened yesterday. I was trippin' out big time, twitching, and having uncontrollable outbursts of kicking things in his living room. I found out later that it was laced with herion. I was pretty pissed off about that because it wasn't a good high at all and kind of made me turn my back on weed at that point.
