What do you actually want from the website? do you want to give people the ability to place orders? or do you just want to list products and prices and have people call you to make the order?
Do you want animations? or do you just want simple pictures and text? do you want to log people that access the site and how they accessed it? etc etc.
Before you start into something like this you need to know exactly what it is you want from the website. Once you figure out what it is you want from the site, you can then figure out if you are able to create it yourself (not that difficult for a simple site) or pay someone to do it for you (can become pretty expensive pretty quickly)

AS nvruckus mentioned you need a script to basically operate as your shopping cart and site itself. OS Commerce is a great free script and has great community support.
The other thing you need to do if you are not familiar with HTML coding is have someone skin your script to get it a fresh look, add logo etc so it is not the bland default OS Commerce install theme.
From there you just need to get a hookup for the gear you are going to sell and add all of your products to the site from your admin control panel.

Yes...Jntars name is Justin. I was just wondering if he decided to start his own business. I knew he was kicking around the idea of opening up a B&M, but didn't know he was interested in starting a web based business. If so...good luck man.
I know someone on my team is talking about starting a B&M, trying to get him to work in someone elses shop for awhile first to get ideas on distributors, and install techniques as well as pricing and stuff.
