Ways you have found to get xtra bass...

Lean passenger seat all the way up.glove box down

sun visor at angle to seat

croud the steering wheel

fill car up with tool bags

take seats out of back of vehicle

Oh...did you mean louder to the ear for daily driving or on the meter?

Turn on the AC. But remember to turn it off too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

raising your lpf will actually decrease the output of your lows, due to impedance rise
and if setting your lpf that high gives you gains A) your box is either way too small, or is tuned incredibly high and B) your mids probably **** too, cause they should be OWNING 100+ at LEAST a good component setup can get jiggy down to 80, or even 60hz

I meant the sub sounds louder to me (but not as good). Big, small, it's been that way on every box I've owned so I will have to respectfully disagree.

And my mids get jiggy just fine, thank you for your concern.

Going from 60-80 to over 120 makes it sound a little louder to me, but it also makes it sound more directional....which I don't particularly care for.
Do you know what 60-80 and 120 are? They are frequencies. A subwoofer really doesn't have much business playing up to 120hz. Sure, you can do it, but it will play high notes and sound more like a mid. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

and loudness isn't personal preference, it's absolute
The lower frequecies don't sound to me like they are coming from a specific location. Setting the LPF at 60-80 is ideal for me. Once you bump a sub up to over 100-120hz, it no longer sounds indirect to me. That's just my opinion, which is worth what you paid.

That's because bass for the most part is non-directional and the frequencies you would be playing with it set on 120hz are mid-bass frequencies.

If you'll work a little harder at your reading skills, you may find I agree with that.

i never said anything about directional placement of higher frequencies, i agree that above 60hz or so it starts drawing attention to itself

i just said that keeping the lpf lower will increase actual output

60-80 like you said is fine, tho, i thought you meant you regularly keep it above 100hz, i just misunderstood
