Wattage/Speaker setup concerns

To explain my whole situation here is a brief summary:

I had an Alpine CD Deck with 45 watts/channel and four (4) Eclipse speakers installed in my 1990 Ford Escort. The speakers were 5" circular in the front and 5" X 7" oval in the back. I crashed this car and got the stereo taken out.

A few months down the line... I now own a 1990 Toyota Corolla SR5 (La Toya) and the speakers will not fit (i haven't tried, i know that they won't) The measurements for the speakers of this car are as follows: 4" circular in the front and 5.25" circular in the back. The front eclipse speakers of the escort that were 5" will fit the corolla, and I am going to purchase new front eclipse speakers that are 4"...

********Here is the weird part that I am devising... I will have the 5" X 7" 's left over from the escort's rear. I want to make a box and put them in the rear of the new car in addition to the four speakers so that I have a 6 speaker stereo.

********HOWEVER, i am worried about a wattage problem. I would probably have to connect the rear channel to the two additional speakers (in the box) in addition to the 5" that i will already have there. Will 45 Watts divided by two deliver enough power amplification to the speakers or will they distort?? I guess the real question is... will 45 Watts power a 5X7" speaker and a 5" circular speaker together on the same channel?

Please email me or respond to this or both with questions and comments and answers. Thanks in advance for your time : ) If you have suggestions on alternative setups feel free to interject them!

Your going to be really pushing it without a amp. Your head unit may have a 4x45W power but that is peak power, it's not what it can sustain for long periods. You also can't run 4 speakers off 2 channels because each speaker needs a channel to itself. If your not interested in running subs then your best bet is to buy a cheap 2 channel amp to run your 5x7's. Hope this helps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How much can I get a really really cheap amp for at a wholesale place?

How do I run the wiring to an amp and to the speakers?

My Alpine CD headunit has a preout in the rear for plugs. Do I use this?

I don't want the 5X7's to try to use sublevel b/c that will bottom them out... Please explain how I can amplify them... My knowledge is sub-amateurish. Thanks in advance for your time.

first off why would you wnat 5x7's in the trunk.......????? buy an 8 inch sub or something and don't be a fool....save save save man.......never use deck power, it is like 10 watts at most, undistorted......buy a good 4 channel and run your fronts off of the amp and your sub off of the rear.

The box would not go in the trunk. It would go in the rear deck in addition to the other two speakers..

Unfortunately I mistakenly thought the speakers were 5" speakers... they were actually 6.25"'s

This means none of my speakers fit so this is useless... thanks for your responses anyway.

Which amp and which speakers? What crossover are you using? You may be fine so long as you never push the volume too hard.
