Water on ground?

ok so heres the deal i used to have my ground mounted on the tray in my trunk where my 6x9s are mounted and it kept wigglin loose so i drilled right into the metal in the wheel well of my car... to have some good solid metal to put a bolt in so it WONT come loose. the end of the bolt is visible from my left rear wheel well.. but the question is.... it is winter time..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif and if water touches that ground could that cause interference and maybe screw my amp up? after having it grounded this way (in dry weather) it worked great for a long time but our first snow came and i noticed some possible extra sound coming from the subs... and then later (i dont know whether it was my ground cable or my amp)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif started to smoke but i cant see it being the amp cuz it still works. but i need to know if i need to change this or not in case it is a possible threat to my amp... any help on this one would be great

well i figured that i need to change somtihng but i dont know if it was the ground cable that fried or my amp startin to cook... cuz the amp still works fine there is just some interference every now and then and if the amp smoked dont u think id notice serious problems? btw its a hifonics tx1505d if that helps any

i guess that is a good point and i didnt think of it that way... but then what explains the smoking.... the set up as is has worked this way GREAT for a long time and there is no reason for it to start doing it now... everything is as tite as can be... 4g cable for power and 8g for the ground.. possible its my gains i guess but u would think if it was that i would have seen problems sooner after hours and hours of seemless play time...

I would make sure you put some silicone sealant on the bolt to seal the hole, because that is a prime candidate for an interior water leak, and water + electronics = smoke and dead components. You can't let the magic smoke out!

There's a sealant that Permatex makes for sealing windshields. Its a flowable silicone so it will get into the nitty gritty spots that you cant see. I would give that a shot. Its probably about $4 at Autozone
