Warranty

My first install was done.. I had 2 Infinity Kappa 12.1's (350Watts RMS) powered by a Infinity Reference 611a (648 Watts RMS). My friend set the gains low and I never played the sub loud at all yet. I heard you need to work subs into that kind of stuff. Then I smell smoke in my car and my same friend is with me. He's like WTF is wrong? so We checked. We thought it was an amp... but it wasn't, then we checked the wiring, that was fine, then he said it has to be a sub. We checked that and he said he's pretty sure that is the problem. I take it to a car audio shop and they said it's the sub.

Now my question is, can I get this replaced under warranty? It is an infinity sub and purchased from Millionbuy.com. Who do I send it back to? Infinity or Millionbuy? The sub is also pushed out a little further and doesn't look right. It still sounds right and you can't actually hear a difference. It's weird how one went wrong and not the other too. But I think I will need to send it back. Will warranty cover this or will they just say I misused their product. Any help please?

This sucks for me as it's my first system and I had it going for 3 days and already have this problem. I feel like an *** that does not deserve to have a system now (or only an xplod system).

You are going to have to contact them and find out. You will want to contact Million buy and find out their warranty process. Even if your freind set the gains low, they were still set by hand. So you need to properly set them with a DMM, to avoide gurther damage.

yeah.. I was even suggested to set them with a DMM by someone here... But couldn't find one in any stores and when I asked for one, they looked at me like I was dumb. I guess I got what I deserved. But do you guys think that I will be covered or am I out some money here?

Millionbuy is not an authorized Infinity dealer, and hence it does not carry a manufacturer warranty. You're going to need to contact Millionbuy and see if they personally warranty them. If not, you're SOL.

yeah I was reading that on Infinity's site that they are not an authorized dealer. One thing, I did receive in the package was Infinity's 3 year warranty card... Is that still no good since I didnt buy from an authorized dealer?

Here's what Millionbuy sent me today when I contacted them...

"Dear Customer,

Manufacturer Internet Dealerships & Warranties

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible on your purchase. MillionBuy.Com

will honor all manufacturers' warranties on all of our products.

Unfortunately, subwoofers do not come with manufacturer's warranties, but do

come with a 30 day Millionbuy.com satisfaction guarantee.

Most items come with a warranty against manufacturer defect or failure for a

period of three months to one year from the date of your purchase, depending on

the manufacturer. This warranty covers replacement or repair of the product with

the same product.

Warranty is void if serial tags, receiving numbers, product stickers, or

manufacturer seals have been removed, altered or tampered with. Warranty is void due to mishandling, improper use, or defacing of the product.

Products damaged due to improper or inadequate packaging when returned are not granted warranty coverage. There is no charge for repairing products covered by

warranty apart from shipping costs.

To arrange to have goods repaired under warranty you need to contact the

manufacturer's warranty department with the product number and serial number.

You will need to give a product description and outline the problem.

We recommend that products returned by mail be sent via UPS with insurance or

other insured postal services. MillionBuy.Com accepts no responsibility for loss

or damage occurring in transit."

I received the product about 2 weeks ago... purchased about 3 weeks ago... am I covered or screwed out of luck?

Generally online retailers use the “ship date” as the start period for their 30 warranty, in which case you should be able to return them. Send them back either for a refund or for exchange, tell them their DOA. Good luck!

okay, so it sounds like they will send me a new one. My mom had to fill out a form and crap about the problem and now they said they will replace it. Only problem is when they asked what was wrong, because there was burning smell in my car, my mom said the sub overheated.... Will they think we are dumb for saying that?

They should still cover it if they already said they would. Just inform your mom a little more about life. And no one at walmart knows what a DMM is, But it is in the car section. Where you find the foglights, and electrical connectors. Or go to radio shack. If they don't know have them call there manager...

yeah, my mom being misinformed was from me. She has no idea what a subwoofer even is... I told her she got to send it back since she was the one who purchased it... and yesterday, she asked me why and I just said I smelled smoke and didn't explain it all to her... so she sent that message to them.

And yeah, I saw a pic of a DMM so I have an idea what they look like, went through walmart and couldnt find one... then when I asked, I looked like the dumbest person alive for asking that. I'm going to check again or Radio Shack.

But thanks for the help man.
