Want to upgrade from a JL W1V2

I have a single cab 93 Ranger so I have very little room behind the seats. I have a W1V2 in a sealed box in between the bucket seats right now. I would like to use the same box, but upgrade to a louder sub. I am pushing 300w RMS to the sub. What 10" sub should I look at with a comparable mounting depth. I am not worried about cost, I can always work overtime to afford the sub.

I haven't heard it myself, but one shallow mountish subwoofer that often comes up in these discussions Polk Audio MM. It seems like everyone who has one is happy. One 10 inch sub in sealed box will probably stress amplifier too much if you want more output. I'd try to 10s or one 12.

I played with the amp this morning and sub settings and got it sounding much better and clearer. I really think the problem isn't the sub/amp, but the head unit. I have a Kenwood MP538u and it has basically no settings besides Sub level, Bass, Mid, and High. You can't break anything down to tweak further than that. Looks like I will be buying a new headunit next. Any suggestions? I would like to spend $100-$200 tops.
