Want to start learning to play guitar, where to start?

iron man baby!
a friend n i used to play crazy train on an acoustic and a banjo.. no bs`n either...it was pretty hardcore ahahahah....but learn a couple simple chords n go from there.it`s pretty easy once ya get the basics down.ive been playin for round 17-18 years and never had 1 single real lesson*that i had to pay for that is*mainly just played by ear.

les paul for teh win. Marshall amps own if you got the money, nothing below a 10" tho. Low budget go for Agile, they are at http://www.rondomusic.net they own, I had a les paul style from them that I got for like $300 and it was better than a true les paul that costs you like thousands.

I sorta learned the first part of Adam's Song and Wake Me Up When September Ends. It's hard switching chords. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I called around some music places and they didnt have the guitar poster in stock so I cant get it until next week.

Yea after playin a mean metallica solo on my banjo i like to sit back an mess with the tourists. (Deliverance anyone?)

juss messin wit u man:D

best advice is to pick up the axe and play something every day... if not i got rusty real quick. guitars are as expensive as you'd want to pay... i've sold my more expensive fender strat+amp and just kept a cheap peavey, since i'm not so into being in a band anymore

How do you choose guitar strings? There's 40 different kinds under $10. Type of music is Greenday, Blink 182, etc for an electric guitar and stuff like Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, and The Animals (house of the rising sun) for an acoustic.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif I just did the same thing.

My dad was into guitars in the early '90's and he has a ton invested, but it all sits in a closet.... so I'm gonna learn so I can steal his stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I paid about $400 for an Alvarez acoustic the other day. I would have gone cheaper but I plan to keep the guitar for as long as I can so as an investment I spent more for something with nice build quality and I preferred the sound over a few Fenders (Korean built ones //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ), a Hofner, a Taylor, and a Martin in the same price range...

It really is all about the sound.... don't get too caught up in names unless you are planning to buy as a long term investment and want a guitar with high resale.

Amps?
Build your own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I was trying to find info on building one. Drivers dont cost more than $60 each. Just not sure on the other stuff.

Ive narrowed it down to DR strings. Maybe the tite-fit or the colored ones.
