Want the kick of a sealed in my ported box

I love the kick in the back type bass you get out of sealed boxes but I also love the output and lows of ported boxes.

My dd's don't really have that kick in the back type bass. It will flex the car quite a bit but isn't real punchy. The box is tuned to 36hz.

What do I need to do to get more of a tight bass response?

less volume?

less port area?

different subs?

take the tuning up to 40hz you'll have punchy! or just put a few peices of wood inside the box, it'll lower the box volume a bit and raise tuning. you'll lose a bit of lower 30's but gain what your looking for.
