Ok one of my friends has one and I really want one bad, but idk what to look for as far as requirements. So as usual I came here. Basically I'm trying to spen as little money as possible, while still getting a good unit. I'd really like to find one in the 5-600 range but will go higher if need be.

Z1 is a double din. Instead of being a single din, where the monitor flips out...

For under $1000, you can find plenty of good units...the Alpine IVA-W200, Kenwood DDX7017/DDX6019, Panasonic and JVC have double dins that are under $1000...

I own the Alpine iva-d300 and absolutely love it. I got it from Crutchfield last Thanksgiving for $850 shipped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .

Crutchfield is a reliable online source, plus you get all the install equipment you need. I don't know much about Clarion's units, but this seems like a pretty good deal.

Also, as of two days ago they had the alpine w200 unit in the outlet for $899. Apparently they're back to regular stock and are still only $999. Alot of people have this head unit and love it. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ZRVW9Nk8H2j/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=w200&i=500IVAW200

i just bought the jvc dw-avx706 for 620 shipped, its a double din, heard of one person who has one and said its a solid unit, no touch screen though which does not bother me

I think your 03 might be slightly different than my 04, not sure.... but I installed a W200 yesterday. After buying a kit that didn't fit, buying backstraps and plastic to make my own kit, and messing around with that all day, I ended up using the supplied Alpine sleeve and trim ring. I had to file the opening in my dash just a little on top and bottom (mostly on bottom), but now that it's together it fits like a glove. I also installed the TR7 (bypasses the parking brake) and a relay for my rermote lead (I run multiple amps). The toughest part was getting all the wiring tucked out of the way behind the unit so it would slide all the way in. Anyway, it sits perfectly now, and works like a charm. I love it. In fact, I'll go snap some pics right now.
