wanna see why TC sounds doesnt use aluminum cones anymore???

When i had my 3ks the aluminum cone seemed to take power better than the titanium cone did. It didnt get has hot as the other an seemed thicker. As stated how much power?
i said it a few poasts up... 2800 watts (lol)

thats pretty far up in the coil's thermal limits so i assumed thats what finally went (been feeding it that daily for the past 4 months)

but the coil, spiders, and all other parts except the cone are fine

Had 2 3k's that did almost the same thing...no hole but ended up with an inverted cone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

That happened to a lot of people. TC got a bad batch of cones or used ones that were too weak, not sure but it was a pretty big fiasco.

That was one of the problems with al cones that had a crease near the edge. Looks like that one had it.

it might not have done it when you think it did, what happens is it fatigues due to heavy acceleration and then eventually breaks. Like breaking a paper clip (bending it many times)

Yeah... I was PISSSSSED.. wanted to smack Thilo in the face with the sub when he tried to say it was my fault.... instead I just sent him a death threat written on the cone...lol

i could tell when it happened... there was a distinct noise (lol)

but yeah, i understand why and how it happened

i was just poasting up pics to show ppls

ill be reconing it with a Black Ti cone

You said LMS right? I would love to hear an LMS, XBL^2 and split coil sub side by side to hear what the best of the best BL linearization techniques has to offer.

ive never dealt with a split coil design but i do understand how it works

but to me its a Toss up between LMS and Xbl^2, imo LMS will prolly sound best but has the most drawbacks (amount of power it takes to get the sub moving, box requirements, etc...)

Titanium is much much stronger, you do not need it to be as thick to have more strength than aluminum.
I know that titanium is stronger, I was just stating something. An to me the ti cone had a different sound than the aluminum cone that i didnt like.
