My guess is he is talking about one of those portable jump-start batteries. Certainly makes sense to me.

It was a jump box which doesn't need to be plugged in except to charge. So the two cords shook loose and touched creating a spark which ignited my trunk. For some reason the picture I posted disappeared so here is another:
