JL is very over priced. your only paying for the name

So all their patented technology is worthless? As long as it says, "JL Audio," they charge an outrageous amount for it? Not many places will you find a driver with the technology inherent in the W7s. They cost a lot to make and market and JL has to make money. They deal strictly with their own dealer network. They are a business, and everyone compares other subs to them. There is a reason for that.

i think of JL as a typical system. A typical system for someone that is just looking for a system that bumps and that really do not know about car audio. It is a typical system because guys that dont research or dont really know about car audio thats all they think thats best. At my school, when people here somebody having JL, they think "OMG thats the best!!! i wanna steal it after school!".

They also think that because the prices are so high, that's the best system and will get loud. When they dont know that there are better and more subs out there that can get better output. Especially, for cheap. Just my 2 cents.

I have heard w7s and sx s both in manufactured spec boxes... Off of the same amp (JL 1000/1) the w7 was much deeper cleaner, and a little louder.. If u want to hear a w7 in your car ask the dealer.. Im sure if u have a nice amp (well with a 12w7 ur options are limited) the dealer would at least let u try it out .. If not its hit or miss, Diamond is great stuff although i ve never heard there subs im sure its good quality... And obviously time and time again we hear w7 s are over priced.. Well they are but imo if 1/2 the people were to listen to a w7 vs. a re xxx, idmax, ss rl-p , rl-s or anything in the same category without knowing what there listening to, the opinions and slams on a w7 would not be as brutal as they are.. Its all what sounds good to you and what plays good in your car.

I have heard both the W7s and D9s..

I thought they both sounded awsome and were very comparable

but prices of JL products didnt justify me to pay triple for a W7 when

I got TDX's for 200 a pop new on ebay - plus I didnt want to be part

of that JL bandwagon... it gives me the willies

lol i still dont c how ur not overpowering thoes d9's to be honest reading how much power u gave them and seeing how much they are rated for was one of the first thing that attracted me to them.

I just installed a 15" D9. It is awesome. Great SQ.
