3 older used 12" jl w6's on a 1501 mtx amp:amp puts out -750- rms at 4 ohms..so i would slightly be under powering them.

3 12" new mtx thunder 8000 powered by a 1501 mtx amp:::subs r 1200 rms total.and they will go down to 2 ohms wich would be optimole from the amp

i've heard the mtx and they definiatly get loud, but i personally havent heard one mtx sub that actually had some sq, they get loud but thats about it, i've heard the w6v2 and they sound good, but thats the v2

big difference between the original w6 and v2. I would say just go and listen to them both for urself and see what sounds better. U cant go wrong with the JL's but of course at the same time theres a ton of other products out there for great prices to choose from.

W6s by far, If you have the room, port them 2.5-3 cubes each with 30sq" per sub also.

do the 8000's...be different...

sides that..they'll take a beating in daily operation..and look a touch blinger(

but for real...maybe not quite the w6 in sq.but it's equal in spl...besides, sq is mostly subjective anyway

Hes rollin in a capreezy so it dont matter how big the box is. i have been lookin for a 91-93 caprice for around $2000. no luck sofar.

I say dont get either. are you trading the L7s or Pioneers?? Is SQ important to you? I say for SPL jus get a single 15" and port it in a 4 cube box and your rollin tight. I know you can do better than those two choices. But if you have to then go with the JLs. They are a little bit better in the SQ and just as loud if not louder than the MTX. I have never liked MTX or JL personally, but thats just based on experience.
