If i got two 12" JL W3v3 2ohm subs...how big of a box would you recommend? Would they still get loud in a sealed box? Keep in mind this will be going into a small hatchback.

They sound great in a sealed box, I have mine in a sealed box. I recommend sealed. I also tried in ported and didnt like it as much but it did get louder but it still gets loud in sealed. I would say somewhere around 2.25-3 sealed. I have my 1 in a 1.5 sealed, and thats max.

Jl recommends I forget but the tops is what I have mine in 1.5 sealed. It is pretty loud and sounds good, im more sq oriented but its relatively loud, if your looking for LOUD spl subs, then you picked up the wrong ones.

Ive never gone SQ before. But i want to try it, does it still pound on your chest? If you know what i mean. lol

Yes, they can still pound your chest. A friend of mine had 2 12W3s, the original ones, running off of a soundstream reference 1000 and it was able to get very loud... he has since upgraded to 12W3V2s, but is in the process of redoing his system, so I haven't heard them yet, but my old 12W3D4s ran of a MTX 2300x in a sealed box in a ***** am and it got very loud as well. If it doesn't get loud enough for you sealed, try a ported box tuned to around 36 or 37 hz., that will still get loud, and retain some good sq.
