Can anyone tell me how to use t-nuts?

Just drill a hole the required size and hammer the T-Nut on the opposite side the screw goes into. Although, I have not had the best of luck using T-Nuts on MDF. I would use some Liquid Nails on the edges to help them stay in. Just make sure you fully seat them.
