SUPPORT THOSE WHO DEFEND YOU???
LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING... I have "BROTHERHOOD" tattoo'd from shoulder to shoulder because my lil brother just graduated HS in 2001 and was in Marine bootcamp during 9/11. During that time I was in a drug rehap, trying to beat some charges. I knew his *** was going to WAR, but it was against BIN LADEN NOT SADDAM. When BUSH started diverting from the initial mission and going after Saddam I knew shit was all wrong. I WAS RIGHT.
In January 2002 my brother was activated and sent overseas to kuwait, which to me meant he was getting ready to go in Iraq. I was still on probation until 2004, and I was just finishing a 14 month rehap. I filed for Early dismissal of probation to enter the marines, under the same division and same job as my brother. I was studing to take the ASVAB test when the judge denied my dismissal. This was in April 2002.
Long story shorter, there was nothing that I can do to "help" make sure my little brother was safe. My parents we worried sick because not only of the physical danger of war but the mental torment as well.
My father told me specifically "I wish it was you over there because we know you can handle yourself" --->
My reply was "dont worry, if anything happens I am going to bootcamp after probation"....
My mentality was if ANY THING happened to my brother I was going into boot camp after signing up for ACTIVE DUTY, with the DONT GIVE A FVCK attitude, I would have a hell of a time but it would make me stronger and more angier... then I would KILL as many of them fvckers as I could to redeem my brother... revenge is a mothafvcker and that would have been the pure force driving my soul.
So point is I was fully prepared to die and defend, but for my brother because this fvcking idiot of a president FVCKED UP. I did vote, I was ready to vote in early 2002 when he diverted. $hit I was up a 630 am and one of the first people in the voting booth when the elections were here...
as for the outcome, my brother came home fully alive and well in september. He never entered Iraq, but his best friend who was in the same plattoon did. I dont know how he got so lucky but he had someone on his side.
Oh and by the way my personal view of the forces is that I wouldnt enlist for anything, but this was something that I considered I had to do.
