Volvo 960 power wire help

What size power wire are you running? You may need to drill into your cabin depending on the size of the wire and if there any access points, some cars have spaces where you can route wires through and some don't. I used to run power wire in the car a long time ago on my cars and the installs I do. I have been running them under the car for a while now and it is pretty easy. All you need other than your power wire are some zip ties, fire grommet, a drill, and conduit. I use the liquidtite conduit, you can find it at home depot and most hardware stores. It's pretty cheap, about a dollar a foot. The only point where you need to drill would be your trunk or where ever you power wire needs to go into the back (amps, 2nd battery, etc). Just stay clear from you gas tank when you drill. Cut you wire and conduit to the length required to reach from your battery to the trunk. Remember that the conduit does not need to be as long as your power wire because the conduit is mainly used to protect the wire that under the car. I usually leave about 36 to 48 inches of the wire that extends passed the conduit on each end. These measurements are different on different cars. Run you power wire through the conduit (spray WD-40 or equivalent) in the conduit before sliding it through and it will slide through easily. Route the wire/conduit from your battery down through your engine compartment (under the hood0 and stay clear of any obstacles and parts that will heat up. Use zip ties to tie the conduit/wire to parts under the hood to secure it. Continue to route the wire under the car and use zip tires to the bottom. Each car has different point where you can secure it, just makes sure the parts you choose to secure it to don't get hot or are moving parts. Place the fire grommet where you drilled the hole through. Depending on the size of the wire you use the whole needs to match that size (slightly larger). Grommets come in different sizes, but standard is 3/4 inch. If your running 0/1 wire use 3/4 grommet, etc... now just run the wire through the grommet and use some type of adhesive on the wire and grommet to make sure it will not slide back through. It's pretty easy even if you have never done it. There are videos on YouTube for this. I have a few I posted myself.
