Voltage questions

I have a zx1500.1 and pdx-4.100. The birthsheet on the zx is 1755 so i set the gain to 1700 with a multimeter. Now, my voltage is in the 12's and dropping to 12.0 occasionaly at the amp... i know it obviously wont do 1700 at 12v.... is it clipping when the voltage drops that much or is it just not making as much power? Secondly, will being in the 12's voltage wise hurt this amp?

Also, my voltage at the battery does not drop at all but im dropping a lot at the amp... is this normal?

12s will not hurt that amp at all, at least it shouldnt unless you have something seriously wrong with it. I have seen people who terrible voltage problems drop into the the 10s or even 9s. Depending on the amp it will shut off on them or start clipping, and when an amp clips you will almost always notice it
