Volt meter

Hmm, I would rather know the Ac voltage off my amp than my battery voltage..
That way i know exactly how many RMS i am pulling on any given song.
im sure you could wire it to the amp instead of the battery so you would know, but who knows.

just by reading voltage you can get a nice estimate of that. 27volts off the amp is around 729w at 1 ohm in a nice world, if you factor in efficiency and other factors it is less but for the most part its accurate according to my fluke clamp meter.

Hmm, so looks like it will work though right?

My main concern is there is not remote turn on lead or anything so I don't understand how it'll know when to turn on/off. It won't stay on 24/7 right?

I was just doing some reading and I read most of these volt meters will automatically turn on and off when they sense a change in voltage. Can anybody confirm this or know if the one I linked has this?

On second thought, i'm pretty sure this one won't do that.

I dont' really know how to wire it now...remote turn on leads wont give a voltage reading right?

If I want to measure "voltage drops" I want to wire to the battery, not amps right? If this is the case it'll be easy since I can just tap into the HU power....

Advice?

When you hook up a h/u you use a constant hot and the switch hot so the head unit doesn't stay on when you turn your car off. Can you hook it up to the same switch wire?
