Well I can speak from experience. For my first system they did a **** good job. 1 sealed 10 getting RMS in my single car ford ranger wanged. I was content with it for 6 months. Only real reason I upgraded was becasue I got a jeep so I have a ton of space now. If you can find them for the right deal they are worth it. Especially if your friend isnt an audiophile he will be completely happy with it. Make sure to give it time to break in before you judge it. The rubber surround is pretty serious;)

Possibly you need to take the advice found in your username, fella.

Break-in being a necessity is urban legend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I'd wager the surround on some Volfenhags aren't any more serious than the one on my Diamond M6...

An old friend of mine came to me with a pair in a ported box. Actually they were pretty loud, and sounded half way decent. Still wouldnt waste my money on them though. Not to sure how long they will hold up.

O.K. my bad, judge the shit out of the sub as soon as it gets going. With the surround ordeal... sarcasm... I figured with the smily face and everything people would catch it...guess not.

For amusement I hooked up a couple of the 12's in a prefab box off of a lanzar 2000 watt and they were actually fairly loud for a while, till they started eminating a odd burnt smell....then I didnt push em past that....

I was comparing them at the time to two older L5 10's and it was about equal...but how long they'd last is anyones guess.
