Can you bypass a voice coil?

I have a kicker L7.

I have the red/dot terminal running to the amp.

I have the black/dot terminal running to the amp.

I have the black terminal running to the red terminal.

But my real question is, is that you cant just run one coil or the coils wont work right? they will fight each other? Also, how does the sub work if one voice coil is hooked up but it only works when you put the connecter between black and red terminals.

if you want to run only one coil unhook the other completely I dont think it hurts to have it crossed like that but it doesnt need to be also most importantly remember it is only good for half of its rms wattage.

are you shorting one of the coils with the jumper, or are you wiring the coils in series? diagram? what amp?

as mentioned, you can run one coil and give the sub half it's RMS power rating.

thats not really what they are built for but you can.
