This is true. And that is why they use it mostly on small applications such as connections.
Gold is used in connector applications because of it's resistance to rust and corrosion. Not because of it's conductivity properties.

EDIT: I guess I should have said that it's resistance to corrosion, being the least reactive metal, along with it's ranking in conductivity (being right behind copper) that makes it a decent choice for connectors. If it were highly non-conductive it wouldn't be used. But it's not used because it's a better conductor than copper.

I personally prefer flat copper as opposed to round as it gives more surface area for cooling.
Technically round wire would have more surface area.. but you can pack more metal into a flat winding.. (for more power and BL)

Actually gold and silver are better than copper, but to expensive to use. Not being a smartass, but it is true.
Wow...so many people say that gold has one of the best/THE best conductivities...it's driving me insane, an electrical class teacher said this to someone and mentioned it to me...I nearly lost it, that's just embarassing

THANK YOU! x2

Yes, my TSS V2 coils are flat copper and are a larger gauge than my TSS V1 round copper windings so I can put more power through them without risk of burning up.

As I think about the geometry round would have more surface area, so you have a point there, but it doesnt seem to be enough to be enough to compensate for the smaller gauge.
