?? about fixing my XXX 18

so i'm attempting to fix 2 ripped tinsel leads on my XXX 18 to use it in my home theater, like so.

i have 2 questions. first, where can i obtain some replacement tinsel leads, second, after i removed the dustcap, the tinsels are covered in glue, like so. how do i go about getting them out of that muck and leaving enough sticking out of the voice coil that i can solder the new one on? i worked my knife under it and pried a little, but was afraid of tearing up the cone or ripping out too much of the tinsel where i'd have nothing to solder to.

It's tough.

You need to be meticulous and very careful. I used a pair of fine point gate cutters, and picked at it, and it's going to stink like hell but use a hot soldering iron to help melt it away...

Those coil leads are very fragile too... will break if not handled delicately...

Don't worry about tearing a bit of the cone away.. you've got to cover that area up with glue when you are done anyway..

You could have probably fixed the leads externally.. but looks like you are ballz deep now..

i've heard that fixing them on the outside is not a good idea. removing and replacing a dustcap, a little soldering aint no big deal.

got the leads out, now i just need to know where i can find some replacement ones.
