I'm very surprised by some of the responses here, so this will probably be my last one lmao....
Here's how it works fellows.... stock electrical wire is NOT made to pass, oh say 150 - 200 amps through it... *if* you still have stock wiring with THAT amp, the wires will get HOT, and I mean HOT. The wires can become soooo hot that they will melt. (the wire will function just like the top of your stove. .... )
Here's what
YOU said
Ok well after having my new amp hooked up for two days it died. The first day I hooked it up I noticed it would cut in and out on certain notes when turned up, but others were fine. I'm assuming it wasnt getting the current it needs to push that hard
Why call me names??? I dont remember calling you any? But since your in the mood for that sorta thing, I'm not the looser, who put an amp that will draw 200 amps on a stock electrical with no upgrades at all... No big 3, (you already mentioned you should have done that in your very first post) stock battery, (probably the battery that came with the car) and stock alternator....
I've had many systems, and I know (based on your own discriptions) what undervoltage is and what it can do to an amp. (even an amp that has over/under voltage protection)
Could it have been a defective amp? sure it COULD be... But based on your OWN discriptions it does'nt sound like it. (to me) I was not here to critisize you. You seem like you may know what to do, yet you admit NOT to doing it..
You KNEW you were starving your amp yet you kept playing it.....
I'm surprised your car even started after what you've described.... (did it start everytime this happened or did you need a jump?)
Anyway I'm finished believe what you want, maybe the amp was bad, but what you described just does'nt seem like you had a bad amp.... Bad owner? Yea, but not a bad amp.... just my .2c
