viper d2500.1 fried, from ike sound

Ok well after having my new amp hooked up for two days it died. I'm assuming it wasnt getting the current it needs to push that hard. .
problem # 1
I have not yet gotten the chance to do the Big 3.
problem # 2

I looked on the amp and the red Protection light was on Next I turned the subs off with my head unit. Then I shut the head unit off and then back on and noticed all of the lights in the car dimmed extremely bad as the amp made a snap sound as it turned back on. I then see a cloud of smoke coming up from my beloved amp. Why did all of this happen?!?!?
please see problems #1 and 2

Also, I would like to ask if Ike sound will cover this. I have not even had it for over a week so my 90 warrenty that comes with the refurb is not up.
Why would you think ikesound would cover this????? This was obviously user error.... How can you blame the amp.... this amp pulls about 200 amps. You DONT have the big 3 done. You probably have your stock battery under the hood, stock alternator, and only god knows how well it's grounded and/or connected. I'm surprised I have'nt read anyone say this yet... But sadly this was your own fault. Be lucky you only fried your amp... You could have just as easily started an electrical fire which COULD have burned your entire car to the ground.... I say you got off lucky stop b$tch'n and buy another amp...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

^^^^^Not doing the Big 3 wouldnt blow the amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
You got a POS refurb IMO.
It would contribute to the problem.... What would happen *IF* he had h/o alt and a better batter or even 2 batteries but did'nt do the big 3...

the amp would still be in danger of undervoltage because the wires would be unable to carry the current to the amp... Wires would/could melt and start a fire...

Also if he'd done the big 3 the amp would not be starving quite as much because more current could pass through the wire(s). (sure he would be still starving the amp but not AS bad...)

I still dont know how you can blame ike sound... Just because an amp has over/under voltage protection does'nt mean you should drive it hard without the appropriate amount of voltage... God knows how long the "red light" was on.... User error is still to blame in this instance... Sh$t it's a 2500 watt amp, it needs current... starve it and you'll burn it up, JUST like he did...

Hey, a$$hole. I don't remember ever saying the amp was driven hard. As a matter of fact the gain and bass eq was turned ALL the way down the entire time the amp was hooked up. Not only that but when I called Directed and talked to a tech he said that ALMOST HALF of the Viper d2500.1 refurbs that Ike Sound has sold in the past 3-4 weeks ended up doing nearly the same thing that mine did. He also said that hes almost positive that he already knows what it was. But thanks anyway for being a d!ck about it

After all the hits IkeSound has been taking here of late about poor customer service, faulty product, etc etc etc this certainly doesn't do much to change public opinion or provide any positive PR.

Go IkeSound for teh LOSE!!

Wait........wasnt it supposed to be FACTORY refurbished? If so, the problem would be with the manufacturer.

i've never seen power wire melt, isn't that what the fuse block is for, nebody else seen it melt ???

I'm very surprised by some of the responses here, so this will probably be my last one lmao....

Here's how it works fellows.... stock electrical wire is NOT made to pass, oh say 150 - 200 amps through it... *if* you still have stock wiring with THAT amp, the wires will get HOT, and I mean HOT. The wires can become soooo hot that they will melt. (the wire will function just like the top of your stove. .... )

Here's what YOU said

Ok well after having my new amp hooked up for two days it died. The first day I hooked it up I noticed it would cut in and out on certain notes when turned up, but others were fine. I'm assuming it wasnt getting the current it needs to push that hard
Why call me names??? I dont remember calling you any? But since your in the mood for that sorta thing, I'm not the looser, who put an amp that will draw 200 amps on a stock electrical with no upgrades at all... No big 3, (you already mentioned you should have done that in your very first post) stock battery, (probably the battery that came with the car) and stock alternator....

I've had many systems, and I know (based on your own discriptions) what undervoltage is and what it can do to an amp. (even an amp that has over/under voltage protection)

Could it have been a defective amp? sure it COULD be... But based on your OWN discriptions it does'nt sound like it. (to me) I was not here to critisize you. You seem like you may know what to do, yet you admit NOT to doing it..

You KNEW you were starving your amp yet you kept playing it.....

I'm surprised your car even started after what you've described.... (did it start everytime this happened or did you need a jump?)

Anyway I'm finished believe what you want, maybe the amp was bad, but what you described just does'nt seem like you had a bad amp.... Bad owner? Yea, but not a bad amp.... just my .2c
