i'd say the viper. those things are very solid amps. not saying the JBL's arent just IMO the vipers are built better.

Viper is the winner. Jbl is a good solid amp, but the crossover sucks and lack of a SSF if you care. Besides that the JBL puts out the power it states and more, but so does the Viper. I would take the Viper if they were identically priced.

refurb means that whatever was wrong with it viper (directed) fixed...that is a sweet deal @ 200$

d class is good for low budget-a/b for the sq in mind. anybody who cares about sound quality would go with a/b. dont let them fool you-you can hear the noise in your subs. if you had one arc xxk 1500 powering one idmax vs one viper 1200 powering one idmax which one hit harder and sound 5 times better?

on the clipping issue thats why the jl audio is a freak a/b/d hybrid amp,instead of clipping it will just play at lower volume-that weird hybrid will give you the juice of a d class and will protect itself like a/b mode amps by decreasing the power intake
