no...you can still watch it in hd, but yes, it will show up better on an hd monitor

All computer monitors display some form of "HD".

800x600 and 1024x768 resolutions are considered 480p, 1280x720 is 720p, and 1680x1050 is 1080p as well as 1920x1080.

More than likely your computer monitor can display 1024x768 or 1280x1024 which are both considered "HD".
