Just about any moboard made by ASUS will be solid as a rock. Their upper end models may arguably be the best you can get. I run ASUS boards in most of my home machines including my main hot-rod, plus dozens of high-performance customs at my company.
But there are certainly very nice moboards from Abit and a couple other popular brands as well.
I gave a top-o' MSI 875p FIS2R a shot for my last high-performance OC'ing rig, but one day it wouldn't boot, and the replacement that MSI sent me was a turd with problems on the SATA controllers too, so bah on MSI (for me).
For a good cheapo' moboard, you may want to look at Albatron stuff. I'm a member of an overclocking forum and read a lot of user reviews on Albatron being the budget OC'er's best-kept-secret, so I bought one to try it out for myself. Man, am I impressed! It has been absolutely rock-solid, great compatibility, excellent performance, and tosses in some great features and overclocking capabilities for good measure. I'm currently running it on my main (home) server and experience absolutely zero unscheduled down-time. I gotta' say, I'm a little impressed.
Another budget consideration may be boards from Asrock, which is a subsidiary company of Asus. They have some pretty interesting offerings. A tweaker geek buddy of mine has one and loves it. I haven't run one personally, so I can't in good concience go as far as to endorse it.
