im trying to build a computer, whihc do u prefer ATI or Nvidia, and what company do you like that puts these out, i need PCI express, either 128 or 256, somewhere around 150, i wanted an ATI with tv tuner in it, but i dont know anything about them

anyone, i want to play some games but im not really gonna be buying any so i might just get a cheaper one with a tv tuner because i play my xbox 360 for games

here are the computer specs as of now(just ideas)

pentium D 2.8ghz(anyone have a computer with pentium d?)

1gb ram dont know brand yet

250gb SATA hd

DVD rom drive and DVD burner drive

a cheaper sound car less than 50$

still dont know what mother board no omre than 120$

im waiting on my tax money beforei get too rowdy about it, but i dont want to spend over 1000$, right now with everything i would need to run it is 1018$ but im gonna change some stuff and lower cost of video card

I would go with Nvidia. I never had a problem getting customer support from them and getting all the drivers. Plus it worked with everything. I owned an ATI a while back and I did not work with everything. But then again they probably have gotten alot more compatibility with things since then. I would still go with Nvidia.

would it be better to get a regular graphics card then get a tv tuner, that way if something quits im still good to go, i dont want to go over 150$ so what models nvidia or ati should i look at that is good enough to play games for a while

anyone have any ifo for a good motherboard

I might upgrade my vid card just because I am getting into some of the newer games out. So my old one I might sell its a nvidia fx5200 128 mb agp and works great never had a problem. And I am still running good games on it but I am going to get a 256 I mean. I am playing Americas Army and call of duty 2, along with many other games with no problems.

edit: how much are u selling it for? Are you going to get a SLI card?

Read reviews on newegg. Try to stay away from cards with reviews that say the card is loud. I bought an ATI Radeon 800gto on newegg.com and its an awesome card, but the fan is loud as hell (Sapphire Fireblade edition). Loud fans get annoying real quick.

Whats a sli card? I was shown a nvidia 6600 i think it was some new one they have out. I dont know the price of my card. I think I paid 150 for it about 1 yr ago but I dont know what they go for etc. The fan I can honestly not even hear it on mine so thats a plus. It has 2 monitor out puts on it. I dont know much about these things honestly.

O hell yea. I remember I got all thermal take fans once. Big big mistake. The freaking cpu fan was in the mid 50's of noise level. Horrible.

Im still kind of confused about the naming but SLI relates to PCI Express 16x which is the newest video cards. I gues you can setup two cards together also so that you get twice the power. I hear it will get really really good in the future. I chose to stick with Agp though. I guess I didnt want to spend more money on a mobo that had SLI.

Also you can only have SLI or AGP on a mobo. You cant have both but SLI is going to be the future of video cards.

nVidia is what I like. I have a cheap lil ATI that came with my computer which I need to swap out for a 6800 or even better yet the 7800GT. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif
