Very informational test/benchmark on sensitivity(SPL)

Was browsing the web and stumbled upon this:

"Here’s a baseline example for one speaker with a rated sensitivity of 83 dB (Model 83) when compared to another with a rated sensitivity of 92 dB (Model 92), and assuming both are measured at 1 watt/1 meter (the standard reference point for sensitivity published by reputable mfgs). The speaker’s impedance at this point is not a consideration.

Currently I'm running a t1500-1bd with 2 mtx 8500's that have sensitivity of 92.2 @ 1/w and it's suprisingly loud for just 1500 watts.

I have a second t-1500-1bd amplifier coming in the mail and should be here in the next week, I'm gonna have to upgrade subs-

Anyone have any input on some subs with good high sensitivity?

What is your sub's sensitivity rated at eh?

Yes, efficiency is a great thing.

However, in a vehicle you run into an obstacle that wasn't mentioned in that article - limited space. Very high efficiency drivers, per Hoffman's Iron Law, will require large enclosures to have the same low end extension.

Atomic loudspeakers used to have fairly high sensitivity ratings, I remember the Apocalypse 15 was in like the mid 90's ( ie.93-94db )

Efficiency is measured at 1kz. I dont plan on ever playing my sub that high. That spec is much more important for mids and tweeters, for this reason, and because they are meant to be run infinite baffle where raw driver efficiency dictates output much more.

Yeah, that does **** I think I've got the T/S sheets for all the atomic stuff around somewhere I'll post up the actual rating as soon as I find them.

Here are some of the 15's that have the higher sensitivity ratings.

QT15d4 - 94.62db

AP15d2 - 94.50db

APXX15D1 - 95.46

did no one listen to holic? your subwoofer efficiency rating was taken at 1khz, it does not dictate how loud the driver will get from 30-70hz... btw this topic was already covered and not long ago, use search function
