Verizon Wireless to buy Alltel

Where I live Sprint and US Cellular have the best coverage by far. I have Sprint and I don't think I have ever had a call drop and I travel all over the state for work. Sprint's CS is so bad it should be called Customer nonservice though.

You're stating an opinion only. I have had nothing but a good experience with them and I've been with them since they were AT&T before there was a Cingular.
AT&T has the largest data network = ownage over all others.
Same here. Had them up north in chitown. Moved down here and went through the Cing to att stuff and never had problems with my service in the areas I have been in.

i was cellular one before alltel bought them. I still have a sweet plan that includes 1200 minutes, free nights and weekends, free mobile to mobile for $39 a month.

Verizon better not take my good plan.

Verizon's data coverage is huge, plus EV-DO is so much faster than anything AT&T has to offer.
Are you quite sure about that? Verizon is using Rev. A, while at&t Mobility has HSDPA in most major markets. at&t will have nationwide UMTS w/ HSDPA coverage by the end of this year.

If we talk about voice coverage and who is "the best", then the vote really has to go to Verizon. Naturally, which company is better depends on where you intend to use your phone as no carrier is perfect in every location, but Verizon's record speaks for itself.

For Alltel customers, this merger probably doesn't mean much. Alltel customers have been using Sprint, Verizon, and local CDMA carrier towers for most of their tenure with Alltel (thanks to low-cost roaming agreements). It may mean, however, that those Alltel customers who wish to upgrade their device will need to switch to a Verizon rate plan when doing so, as this is a relatively standard practice in the industry.

Usually when there is a merger like this, you can keep your existing contact until you need to upgrade your phone or renew your contract. Then you're screwed.

Its sounding like its going to mean a lot to me, i have gotten two new phones with Alltel and havent had to give up my sweet plan. I bet once its verizon i'm stuck with my old phone until i feel like paying more a month.

I was going to give my phone to a relative while i was in Korea, in order to keep my sweet *** plan for when i returned, but it doesnt look like that makes much sense anymore.

In this case, what you do is, take your phone over to korea. hack into their networks with existing phone, use up all their minutes etc..., and when you leave sell that shit to the homies. That way you will have stuck it to the man so much you mind paying a little higher rate. Its just the natural balance of things.

WTF is EVDO going to do for your cell phone?
Verizon may be huge, but it isn't the biggest, so it is FTL.
Not talking about it for the cell, for a laptop with wireless card you can get 600kbps-1.4mbps service though. But on a cell with it you can watch streamong video and stuff.
