Value priced home theater for a dorm?

I'm looking for something to connect to my laptop, through a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio soundcard. If that's not a good choice, then please correct me on that part too. I just want something that will sound nice a loud, as people on my floor don't really care about loud music/noise.

I run my music through my pioneer mini theater off my laptop...

What is your budget?

Can you DIY? (If so what are you comfortable/competent doing?)

As for what I'm comfortable doing and what I'm willing to spend, I really don't know the first thing about theaters and home/computer speakers.

I like the Klipsch 5.1's though, I really don't see the use of a 5.1 system in such a small room though...

x-530 for 5.1

x-230 for 2.1

around 60$ for the 5.1 and 30-40$ for the 2.1

it sounds great to me and gets plenty loud... i have a nice *** HT receiver and tower speakers though so i use those sometimes instead of the logitechs. either way fo rthe $$ you cant beat those

if u want a REALLLY loud sub then spend more though... the sub on this thing gets kinda loud but it wont like rattle your skull or anything.

So the Logitech and Klipsch 5.1 computer speakers are nice? I'll probably go with the 2.1 Klipsch though, I heard those in Best Buy the other day, and was really impressed.

I'd get an acceptable receiver with options you want, then a nice set of towers instead of buying a set of speakers for a computer. It would be tons better and leave you options down the road.

Depends on your budget and what you are after.

Something like the Pioneer VSX-817V-K would be a nice receiver you could use for HT as well. If you don't want to spend very much then you are better off getting just PC speakers or a mini system.
