Value of 1978 Ak-47?

Its not fully auto, just semi-auto. And i say fully legal because i am from southern Florida, and my buddy got raided over legal guns and didn't even get charged with anything, so i'm covering my bases considering he got raided for a text message over a gun. There are hundreds if not thousands of stolen, illegal, or just dirty guns down here and i don't want to start problems over a mistake.
There is no illegal way to buy a semi auto unless you stole it. If it were full auto you would have lots of fee's to pay and have to hold a special license. You also wouldnt be able to sell it to anyone unless they did the same.

A Semi auto is no different than walking into walmart and buying a shotgun...

Finally, you cant sell guns on this forum. So if that is your intent please stop here. Otherwise feel free to chat about it.

If you want to sell it, take it to a gun show or a shop and have them appraise it. Then you can sell it to them or to someone else there.

I know theres gun enthusiasts here, i'm not looking to sell it at the moment. I'm selling my walther P22, and it got me thinking what the AK was worth. I wouldn't offer a gun for sale on a national forum, don't worry, i'm lazy. I would want to sell it very nearby lol.

Mayby if it was a russian made original AK-47 it would be worth alot, but one thats been maintained/repaired with romanian parts suggests it was not kept in the best working order, not to mention the ak47 has to be one of the most mass produced weapons in the world.

You say you just bought it a few months ago.

What did you pay for it? It's probably worth right around what you paid for it. If it's ever been stolen, it's worth-less, and acutally a serious liability to have around. If you ever get caught with it or have to use it in SD, you're screwed.

New AK's can be had for $300- $1200 depending on lot of factors. Used much less.

Keep it. You're not going to make alot on reseale. If there is a ban in the future, then you'll want it even more and you would be foolish to sell it.

Take it to a range, shoot it a few times. Make sure it works. Get some good ammo, more mags, cleaning kit and spare parts. You also need some way to lock it up in case some crack/meth head breaks in. $100 gun locker or bike cable lock thru the reciever and around a supportng beam.

I bought it about 6 months ago i think, my buddy really wanted a 1911 and was poor, and didnt want to get ripped off by a pawn shop on a preban ak, which is all matching serial numbers for each part, so he gave it to me for the 1911. Its a 1978 with a 75 round drum, 4 30 round clips, 10 round clip, and bayonet.. The newer ones do sell for less, the older ones can legally be found with 75 round drums because of it being produced before 1980(2?).. I know its worth more than the current ones for sure. I'm sure i'll make something on resale, as i see similar ones at the gunshow for 1500 or 1600, but it comes with no accessories at all- just a preban ak47. I really need to take pictures and put them in the right place to figure out what its worth, i really don't know much about guns myself, i just like shooting at the range.

Question is, are they selling at that price. I saw 7.62 ammo for over 50 cents a round at the last gun show I went to, safe to say it wasn't selling.

I believe any ak (new/old) can legally take a drum if it is 922r compliant

Mint condition Russian, Chinese or new Arsenal AK's will go for $1200-$1500, but not for a used Romanian. They are good guns, but there are millions of them out there.

Just a fw months ago you could pick up a new Romanian AK with accessories for $329 from classic arms.

Can still get them for 499 each from classic if you buy a 3 pack
