Using Xover on HU or amps

I'll posted this at DIYMA but would like to get more responses so I'm posting it here too.

If you had the ability to fully adjust the xover settings to how you like using either the amps or HU's xovers what would you choose and why? (as in there were no limitations to which frequencies can be played around with) This is a question for both active and passive setups.

Me too. I hate being so vague about this but I'm really asking is by using the HU's xovers you compromise "SQ" over using the amplifier's xovers.
Is that a question? I dont think you compromise SQ any by using the HU xovers instead. I've never really used a seperate xover before so I really cant say much on that though.

I've always used the HU's too.

HU w/ processor.

I don't think would be a difference in 'sq' of you use one or the other if you have the same x-over point and slope. However it would difficult to know the exact x-over point when using the amps x-over.
