Using speaker wire as remote wire?

Dumb question, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Is there any problem with taking 14 gauge speaker wire, ripping it apart into 2 separate wires, and using one of them as a remote turn on-wire?

You can use speaker wire if you want for a remote wire, but I just bought some 18gauge 50 feet blue wire from pep boys for a couple of bucks and it looks better then speaker wire, but just a tip.

I would say it is fine to, I'm running 16 gauge ofc wire for my remote turn on. Working fine for me.
