Using sound deadener instead of clay?

I couldnt find any clay wouldnt would not melt, so i cut out rings of sound deadener and place them on both sides of a 3/4" MDF ring I made. (the metal part is touching the wood on both sides). Does this work? I'm wondering if its possible it could do more harm than good if the metal on wood isnt sealing correctly or something.

Figured I'd ask.

It will stick to whatever surface you mount it to and what speaker you attach to it. I personally do the same thing, only with carpet. It seems to work pretty well and has less impact on anything that it contacts.

I would.

Non-hardening model clay. You can find it at your local hobby shop.

Since you guys are using the mdf rings in place of the oem plastic baffle, wont the mid get wet if it rains?

What exactly did you buy?? I used non-hardening modeling clay. I bought it at Joanne Fabrics....its multicolored kids clay. I can't say that it won't melt as it has not been hot enough yet.

Either way, don't soak your doors in water, and your speakers will be fine.
